It's time to become united as a nation again.  We're so busy living our lives that we don't take time to experience this.  Each individual must participate in this uniting ongoing if it is to truly take hold.

     We're no longer a small, new, growing country founding itself on principles of freedom and liberty from oppression, united by this common cause.  We are a larger country with a large population, economy, and government.   Freedom and liberty must be seen by every individual in this new complex light.  We need to redefine ourselves in this new role.  Especially since our country will continue to grow.

When this nation was formed every individual could say:

I am free from oppression.

But in today's more complex society it looks like this:

I am free from oppression.

Am I free from personal debt?

Am I free from government debt?

Do I have freedom thanks to a quality education?

Am I free from myself? 

Am I free from all the things in this life that push and pull on me?

Have I worked to become a quality individual that makes this a strong nation of quality individuals?

Am I designing my life better each day to rid myself of oppressive values such as greed, laziness, gluttony, pride, envy, vanity?  Or am I seeking a higher quality life and replacing these vices with virtures like generosity, patience, kindness, and humility?

Am I helping others in their lives so we can all be part of a quality, united group of people?

Whew! So how do we simply all these thoughts and become effective?

I think it's freedom and quality at an individual level.  And at a personal level, freedom can occur in many different areas.

So how do I as an individual start on this journey?  We can look at values that strengthen us:  education, giving our resources and time to others, becoming ecofriendly, being a friend, be a problem solver in any area of your life.  And then look at parts of your life that might tear you down:  addictions, greed, miscommunication, anger.

We can't expect our government to always help us.  We must start helping each other. The goverment is not a cure all.  The government is there to help us.  We are America.  A collection of free people.  So thoughts and actions must occur at the individual level. We must live our lives at the individual level.  Solutions must occur at an individual level.  And each of us is on this earth for a limited amount of time.  The time to be reflective of our inner values and how effective we are to the group is today.

But with all of its problems, we can still have a great country.
